FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Not covered here? Call or text 0400 150 093.

Do you do free estimates?

We provide a free estimate for all major projects. Our free estimates exclude real estate estimates and minor repairs. Drop us a line, and we will get back to you quickly with a quote for those services.

Do I need an electrician?

Under no circumstances should you try to troubleshoot your residential electrical system on your own. You should call an electrician whenever you have an electrical problem, both for your personal safety and so that your home's electrical system remains up to code.

Where are you located and which areas do you service?

ARCD Electrical is based in the Ipswich area and services all areas of Ipswich, the Scenic Rim and Brisbane, including Flinders View, Raceview, Peak Crossing, Mutdapilly and out to Minden and Hatton Vale.

Can I watch my security cameras on my phone?

Yes. The CCTV systems ARCD Electrical installs can be set up so you view live footage from your smartphone or tablet wherever you are, and get alerts when something triggers.

Do you install C-Bus and Control4?

Yes. ARCD Electrical installs Clipsal C-Bus lighting control and Control4 and Savant home automation, which bring lighting, climate, audio and security into one system, with training at handover.

Can you get my house ready for an EV charger?

ARCD Electrical has upgraded meter panels to prepare homes for an EV charger, so the property can handle the extra demand. Call to talk through your switchboard and supply.

Which brands do you use?

Brands named on our services page include Hager, Clipsal, NHP and Atom for electrical, Hikvision, Inception, Dahua and Paradox for security, and Control4, Savant, RTI and Schneider Electric for automation. Naming a brand does not mean a dealer or partner arrangement.

One house, one contractor

Power, security and smart home, wired by the same team

Most homes need all three, and they share the same switchboard, the same walls and the same cabling. ARCD Electrical plans them together, so cameras get power and data where they need it and the lighting control is wired in from the start.

  • Switchboard first. Every device on the plan runs back to it, so it is checked before anything is added.
  • One cabling run. Power, data and camera cable go in together, behind the walls.
  • One handover. Lighting, cameras and controls explained by the people who wired them.

How a job runs

From the first call to the handover

  1. Call, text or email

Tell us what you need and where. A photo of the switchboard, the problem or the area to cover saves time.

  2. Look and plan

For bigger jobs we look at the property, talk through options and give a quote. Major projects are quoted free.

  3. Do the work

Licensed, tidy work to Australian standards, with cabling for power, data and security run together where it makes sense.

  4. Test and hand over

Everything is tested, explained and handed over with the right certification, and we stay available for questions.

Compare your options

ARCD Electrical vs separate trades vs a DIY kit

A general, honest comparison with no names. In Queensland, electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician: a plug-in camera is fine to set up yourself, but new circuits, hardwired power and anything at the switchboard are not.
